Staurosporine is a cell-permeable protein kinase inhibitor that acts by blocking interaction with the ATP binding site. It mainly inhibits protein kinase C (PKC) but most other kinases, including tyrosine kinases. It has some antifungal properties.
It has been reported that Staurosporine promotes apoptosis in various cell types by triggering both the morphological changes and intranucleosomal DNA fragmentation and by caspase-dependent and -independent ways. In addition, it has been reported that the kinase inhibitor is related to signaling pathway.
Applications:
- Apoptosis inducer
- Antibiotic
- Protein kinase inhibitor
