Gentamicin Sulfate is an aminoglycoside complex and a broad-spectrum antibiotic created by fermentation of Micromonospora purpurea. It can effectively inhibit disease manifestations produced by Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and other pathogenic organisms. This compound can also inhibit protein synthesis by binding to L6 protein of 50S ribosomal subunit.
Applications:
- Used in treating primary and secondary bacterial infections
- Used in treating mastitis in cattle
- Used in cell and tissue culture and also for transport of cell cultures, certain clinical specimens containing viruses or specimens in which overgrowth of bacteria should be avoided
