Chloroquine Diphosphate is an antimalarial drug. Inhibits autophagy of glioma cells via a mechanism distinct from that of 3-Methyladenine. Research has been performed regarding the use of Chloroquine Diphosphate as a treatment for the novel coronavirus (COVID19).
Per the New York Times: "The malaria drugs, chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, are among the remedies that have been tried in several countries as the [coronavirus] has spread around the world, killing at least 9,800."
